25-Oct-2007

Called To Order @7:05 – Moved to Social @8:05

  • Last meeting (special pre-party meeting) was an informal gathering – there were no minutes kept.

  • Memorial

    • There is still confusion on what is going on with the memorial.

    • Brett was supposed to talk to Ed R about the new rock, but we don't have an updated status.

  • Grooming

    • The Regional Dir @ SAM asked about Mt. Watatic

    • There is land there they are looking to get open to snowmobiling, and are looking for a sponsor – the Snow Riders would be the sponsor of choice.

    • They would be looking to us to expand/build snowmobile trails there, and perhaps expand our grooming operations to include that area.

    • Tom is working on the agreement with DCR to clarify the contract, and move things forward.

    • Club thought it was a great idea

    • The idea would be for the club to pick up responsibility for both Watatic and Pearl Brook – this would really expand our covered area (assuming we get snow).

    • Need to fill out groomer contract – this will probably be going to to the SAM meeting on November 1 – but needs to be sent in by the 8th

      • Contract needs picture and registration info for each grooming machine – the club owned machine is already taken care of, but others that are going to groom need to get this info to Tom as soon as possible.

      • Must get trail map completed by the 8th as well

    • Drivers do not need to be certified for grooming – but there is a class available, and the club encourages individuals take the class.

    • Jeremy has a line on another grooming sled

    • Tom will call James H. about the Yamaha

    • Looking for a free/cheap track for the Yamaha (121 15”) - track is bad, but the club would rather invest $$ in a better grooming sled. - decided to not put more $$ into the current Yamaha, but rather save that $$ and put towards a more work-horse type sled.

    • Jeremy suggested we can get a Scandic for about $1500

    • The search continues for an affordable fan cooled sled

  • SAM

    • Next meeting is November 1- Tom and Ken will attend

    • Sam website has re-opened the forums – these were shut down due to spamming and improper content posting.

      • Looking for moderator – Jeremy volunteered and Tom will submit his name at the meeting. (does this mean all posts that declare any sled better than a Yamaha are going to be automatically deleted?)

    • SAM passes are in

  • Fund Raiser

    • All set with tent

    • Everyone should bring white plastic chairs (put your name on them)

    • We have 3 tables so far – so anyone with folding tables should bring them

    • Courtney is planning pin the tail on the turkey and some crafts

    • Also planning on a dart toss (darts and balloons)

    • Paula and Eileen will coordinate prizes.

    • TJ will be getting a Pinata

    • Heaters

      • Bill has 1 and will bring

      • Travis has 1 and will bring

      • Eric will ask the Powell's if we can get 2 of theirs (Tom will send Steve a follow-up on this)

      • Also hoping Powell's will provide a dumpster

      • Carl will bring popane

    • Hopefully it will be warm enough that we won't need plastic – if it is too cold/wet, we can go to Maki and get some during set-up.

    • Got lots of stuff for the raffles/prizes

      • Still hoping to get a donation from Mark B and Mark T

      • Carl will provide windshield washer and anti-freeze

      • Going to do a Chinese auction so people can purchase tickets and put them in for a chance to win the prize they want.

    • Reviewed the food list

    • Got Hat Trick for the band and a free DJ (Thanks Jeremy) – DJ will run 3-8 and band 8-12- total cost this year was only $400!

    • Need to rope off the neighbor's lawn so nobody parks on it this year.

    • Got the Koozies - $409 for the lot (about 1.25 each) – we can sell these for $2.00 and give 1 with each club donation.

  • Trails

    • Tom has not been able to meet with the person on Page St. yet – this will be top priority for the week following the fund raiser.

    • Tom still needs to visit Leq. and re-get permission to pass over his land near Rt 13

    • Saturday 10th is the next big trail work meeting – need lots of people to show up for this -lots of work to do – Please ALL OF YOU – Meet @ Tom's house at 8:30 AM on November 10th

      • Cut new Page St trail – Tom will try to have it flagged before Saturday

      • Build new bridge behind Mike/Sue B's house (other side of Rt 13)

        • Ken will contact Mike/Sue and make sure they don't block the trail entrance – we can access the trail there via their driveway.

      • Cowdry needs to be walked with a chainsaw to clean any downed limbs/trees (REMEMBER – NO ATV'S in Cowdry – even for trail maintenance)

      • Everyone should bring “left-over” water sealer – we can spray pallets so they can last longer.
