Called To Order @7:05 – Moved
to Social @7:55
- Trail Updates
- Watatic
- Reached out to DCR – want us to get trails going in Watatic
mountain area
- Meeting coming up next week – President and Secretary will
attend @ Willard Brook St. Park Building (Wednesday).
- Trails in the Watatic region are within about 2 mile of our
existing (extended) trail system.
- We reviewed the DCR contracts with SAM – we all agree they
need to be adjusted prior to the club signing on – the
disagreement points will be discussed at the Wednesday night
meeting.
- We also reached out to the Friends of Willard Brook – they
do trail maintenance and general work in the Willard Brook park
(and area). We will meet with them Thursday February 7 also at
the Willard Brook State Park Building.
- They have an event coming up on March 1 @ the Main gate of
Pearl Brook – perhaps we can get the SAM trailer and go there to
promote snowmobiling.
- General
- Trail behind 13 is currently not in grooming condition – too
much mud – we need a big freeze to get the trail back on track –
warm weather and rain has killed the Rt 13 to Power Line
passage.
- Net to get the groomer logs submitted – hopefully the
Secretary can consolidate these and get them into SAM by the
next SAM meeting. (NOTE: If you did not get your grooming time
to the Secretary yet, now is your last notice). Also note – no
guarantee SAM will honor the late logs (we have to get better
about collecting and submitting these).
- The Grooming sled is underpowered – could be clutching – not
sure – gets stuck and track does not spin – just revs full
speed, and belt smokes up.
- Club suggested selling the grooming sled and looking for
something with more power, and perhaps a longer track (like a
2-up) – Secretary suggested a Ski Doo 377 2-up like he had
previously – those machines were great groomers.
- Secretary has GPS maps for all the various trails, and will
try to put together a master map – Really need it for the Poker
Run.
- Events
- Poker run is scheduled for Feb 11
- Last year the person who closed the trail by Page St mentioned
we could use that route for special events. President will reach out
to them to see if we can get a 1-weekend pass for traveling over
this area.
- Need to do Poker Run setup on Saturday before
- Donation this year will go to the trust fund set up for Canna's
son – the trust has been set up through the Bank of America
- President will create a flier for distribution – focus will be
on contacting the club for details on how to participate.
- President will look into getting it posted on the public TV
station as well.
- Club members are encouraged to distribute locally – pizza shops,
Powell's, Culley's, etc.
- In order to complete planning – we will have a special club
meeting Wednesday February 6.
- Tentatively we can set up either in Powell's pit, or at Shady
Point – President will contact both land owners and determine which
place is best.
- President will also contact Hickory Hills association to let
them know there may be more traffic than normal on that weekend in
the HH land and lake.
- Club will bring grills and supplies to base camp via car/truck
the morning of the event – more details will be covered at the
special meeting.
- Hoping to have hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, soda, etc. - Food
will be via donation
- Need to see if we can get a porta-pottie donated for the event.
- Lastly we will need some firewood so we can get a warming fire
going at the base camp.
- Club Trip
- Rangely Trip was a great success
- Had 18 sleds in a row at one point – no break downs – nobody got
lost
- Everyone had a great time
- Need to plan another Club Trip – February perhaps.
