Sam Update
Ken & Tom went to SAM meeting last week -
Tom gave the club an update on what happened
Tom explained the cost changes
discussed at SAM and why we pay the fees for membership even though
most people in the club don't ride on SAM trails - Tom reiterated
that the trails around here really are now SAM trails, and its only
a matter of time before EPO is out patrolling our groomed area.
Poker Run
Tom covered the 2 fund raisers we do -
1st is the fall festival, that helps fund the club - the 2nd event
is the poker run, but this is for charity
The poker run cost an amount to get in
- riders ride through our trails and pick up cards - then meet in
the afternoon for a bbq and showing of hands.
The winner gets a trophy, and the
charity gets the proceeds
This year we have little/no snow - so
we are looking into a different idea
We give the card hands to a
collection of local businesses - restaurants, etc
You can go from establishment to
establishment to purchase cards
You pick the best 5 and then show
up at Shady Point (where we have the BBQ) for an all hands in
That would make the poker run
start this weekend, but end at Shady Point next weekend - if
there is snow, we can show up at Shady Point on sleds, if not,
we will show up in cars
Sunday the 1st would be the
festivity event at Shady Point
Everyone agreed this is a good
idea - people signed up for local establishments, and Paula took
names
Everyone has to contact their
establishment on Friday 20th
Tom will send an email to get
everyone to buy-in - if you buy-in you get a list of the
establishments you can get cards at.
You get 1 envelope per
establishment per buy-in
Another idea presented was to do a
scavenger hunt - publish the list by Sunday, and have until the
following Sunday to complete the list.

people buy-in for $25 to get
the list
people have 1 week to get as
many points as possible
