Called To Order @7:10 – Moved
to Social @8:35
-
18 Members in attendance
-
Season starting - Account Balance $727.90
-
Club has been very active through the
summer
-
Ernie walked trail from our end point /
Pearl Hill to Watatic
-
Signing contract soon
-
Each year the club expands - this year we
are adding at least another 8 miles!!!
-
We should be able to get onto the midstate
trail, and travel all the way to NH.
-
We bought 2 groomer power units - wide
track - hi-lo-reverse. Will make for some great grooming this year
- with 3 machines running the trails.
-
We are now incorporated (golf clap for
Jeremy for spearheading this and making it happen)
-
We completed the Canna Rock Memorial - it
came out beautiful, and was written up in the Lunenburg Ledger with a
photo of Jake (Jason's son) near the rock.
-
We had approximately 40 members last year,
and were still growing towards the end of the year
-
Watatic
- We reviewed the Watatic Presentation which is being given to DCR,
DFW, Ashby Conservation, Ashburnham Conservation, and 2 groups of
private land owners.
-
Tom did a great job putting the
presentation together highlighting 5 areas of concern we are going to
address (fixing a machine made land mound, 3 bridges, and erosion.
-
We need to get more people involved from
the Watatic area - we can't maintain all the miles ourselves -
especially when we need to groom the entire system.
-
The Snow Riders should actively engage
with the members from the other groups for both work projects and social
events - the more we work together, the more successful the trail system
will be
-
Town Fair
-
Fair is the 28th
-
We will look into perhaps getting a table
and selling water, or energy drinks - but a primary focus on exposing
people to the club
-
Some discussion of "Clean Snowmobiling"
and bringing up a 4-stroke sled to show off
-
Tom will look into getting a table.
-
Volunteers to work the table
-
Tom, Paula, Brett, Eileen, Bill, Deb,
Carl, Bob, Chrissy
-
Elections
-
Soliciting nominations for 2008-2009
Season
-
There are no term limits - so everyone is
welcome to nominate themselves to run again
-
Tom will collect nominations and send out
an email with them PRIOR to the next meeting (next week).
-
If you don't get nominated, and you don't
nominate yourself, the club will assume you wish to resign (we don't
want to force people into serving repeat terms if they don't want to)
-
Nominations being accepted for the
following:
-
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Asst
Treasurer, Secretary, Groomer, Trail Boss
-
Nominations accepted via email, phone, or
in-person - contact Tom.
-
Fall Festival
-
Discussed getting the KofC in Leominster
this year
-
After a lengthy "discussion" Tom and Paula
suggested continuing to have the event at their house.
-
We may have an issue with the date we pick
- the Powell's are planning a fundraiser for Jake Cannavino, and
everyone in the club will want to attend that, so we need to make sure
the dates do not clash - Tom will talk to Steve and make sure the dates
line up ok.
-
We plan on doing an event similar to every
other year - but perhaps putting less focus on kid events - we still
want this to be family friendly - and perhaps have pumpkin decorating or
something, but we have invested too much in kid crafts and last year
hardly any kids came.
-
Timing of event - Proposed date is Oct 18
- 4-6 Family/Kid stuff, 6-7 Chili cookoff - 7-on DJ/Band.
-
Will do things like 50/50 raffle and
ticket auction
-
Club members will get gifts and donations
- more details at the next meeting.
-
Trail maintenance
-
Its that time of year already?
-
1st work part is in the Cowdrey lot - we
need to cut up some dead fall, and fix the corduroy on-ramp near the
long bridge (the one re-decked by the Boy Scouts (golf-clap for the
Scouts!). We also have to re-deck the 2nd bridge, we have
materials for this already collected at Tom's house. We have some
tree branch trimming to do as well.
-
Meet at Tom's place at 8:00
-
We have OK to bring ATV's to do the trail
work - so hopefully we will have a couple machines to help move
materials.
-
Groomer
-
Have not done any work on the new machines
- but one sort of runs, and the other does not (some think it has spark,
but Bill said it does not, and Bill would know) Jeremy will get
them going - we have faith in him
-
Starting to collect material for a new
drag
-
Need to get down to Mike and Sue's and
pick up old groomer (the one we were not supposed to leave there all
year - ooops.) - this one needs to be extended a bit - it just is riding
over the bumps.
-
Jeremy needs a new welder (any volunteers,
anyone?, anyone? Bueller?)
-
New Business
-
Snowmobile Expo coming up - in October
18&19 (day after our Fundraiser) - this year it is FREE with your SAM
pink slip
-
If you go - wear your SnowRider shirt or
sweatshirt - better yet - car-pool and go as a group.
-
