Called To Order @7:12– Moved to Social @ 7:55

  • 15 Members in attendance at start - 22 Members in attendance at close.

  • Treasury Report

    • Account Balance $1612.38

  • Scavenger Hunt

    • Snag - Fire Dept already has a rescue sled

    • Fire Dept would prefer to keep the rescue sled they have, and get a new rescue dry suit for ice water rescue.

    • Price for dry suit would be $500-$700 -  and they can get ice cramp-ons that go with it

    • They also have interest in a used snowmobile, but the club thinks this won't work very well

    • Brought up 75 LBS of canned goods to the LION's club food pantry

    • Also brought up about 15 coats to donate to Ginnie's in Leominster.

    • Vote on doing the ice suit and ice crampons - all in favor

    • Vote on donating coats to Ginnies - all in favor

    • Would like to present the suit to the Fire Dept at a selectman's meeting - present to Chief Glenny at the meeting.  (either present the suit or present the check) - Should be around $600 - or $750 if we get 4 sets of crampons

    • We could donate $250 to Lion's club - Motion on floor

    • Motion for Lion's donation was passed unamously

    • Total raised around $1050 assuming all the pledges come in - if some of the pledges don't come in, this amount will be less.

    • Could also purchase rescue donuts for police vehicles (first responders)

  • Club Update

    • Soliciting what we can do better next year

    • We tried real hard with groomers this year - but did not have as good a year as we had hoped

    • We could do better signs

    • We could do better on getting the extended trail established

    • We could create a better private map

  • SAM Update

    • They are looking for update for trail maps

    • Our trail system with Watatic is still in land owner discussion now - so we can not submit that

    • The full trail system from the Water District to Watatic is simply not ready for mapping (especially public) - each year there are land ownership issues and trail re-routes.

    • Next year SAM passes are going up by $5.00

    • New rules - have to go to 5 of the 9 SAM meetings or lose club membership

    • Minimum sale of 1 book of SAM passes for each club.

    • Requiring MA License Number for SAM Pass sales next year.

    • DCR Grants

      • Harvard Club request got approved - but only partially funded

      • 5th of April SAM meeting is about Grant writing - we should attend - this year is going to be a banner year for funds coming out of the federal tax funds - could be the last year any money comes.

      • Ernie discussed how he put his through - including the formula they used to show man hours and machine costs to enhance the trails.

      • It took Ernie about 30-40 hours to write it.

      • Keith can do the writing with help from Ernie.
